Cinnamon Hills
The Cinnamon Hill Golf Club at the Hilton Rose Hall Golf Resort and Spa is set upon a one-time sugar plantation and one of Jamaica’s historic sites. The original design by Hank Smedley was as good as it came back in the day, but it has since been totally redesigned, revamped and renovated by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril. The redesign was completed in 2001 and since then Cinnamon Hill has earned its place among the Top 10 golf courses in the Caribbean.

The Cinnamon hill golf course is located on the historic, 400-acre Rose Hall plantation whose roots date back to the Golden Era of sail and exploration; the date, 1761, can still be seen chiseled into the supporting pillars of the old stone aqueduct that brought water to the plantation’s sugar mill.

The Cinnamon Hill Golf Course is an 18-hole championship layout that plays slightly longer than 6,800 yards from the tips for a par of 72. Four sets of tees – Blue, White, Yellow and Red – have been provided to ensure golfers of levels of skill have a reasonable shot at a good score. Eight of the 18 holes are set upon the shores of the Caribbean, the rest meander through the foothills of the Blue Mountains that form the backdrop for this visually stunning golf course. The back nine is a world of elevated tees, tight fairways and stunning views. The holes on the front nine at Cinnamon Hill are set along the shores of the ocean, dramatic holes that feature windswept fairways and greens guarded by bunkers of sugar-white sand.

If you’re planning a golf outing in Jamaica, you must include Cinnamon Hill in your itinerary. It is without doubt, one of the finest, both visually and challenging, in the Caribbean. Again, if you’ve never played an ocean golf course, Cinnamon Hill would be a great choice to start.

The Tryall Club
Golfers in search of the ultimate thrill need look no further… Tryall’s 6,221-yard, par 72 course – considered the finest in the Caribbean and the pride of Jamaica – attracts the game’s leading players and prestigious international events like the Johnnie Walker World Championships, Mazda Champions, Jamaica Classic and Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf.

Designed by Ralph Plummer, the course’s sculpted fairways and manicured greens meander through forest-green hills, between stands of coconut palms and fruit trees, round lily-padded ponds, down to a one-and-a-half mile long shoreline. The Tryall Clubs course enjoys both spectacular views and challenging golf.

The course winds along the beach and into the hillside; while some of the holes seem wide open and ready to accept your longest drive, beware of the trade winds. As the Johnnie Walker players discovered at Tryall, strategy and position are the keys to a successful round.
