Bike New York, working in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board (“JTB”), is organizing a two-day recreational bicycling event, “Bike Jamaica” (preliminary working title).  It will take place in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on a Saturday and Sunday in June 2012. All rides on both days will start and finish in Montego Bay. Up to 2,000 participants are expected in this inaugural year.

Participants will have a choice of five routes of varying lengths, tentatively 15, 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles. The ride will be fully-supported with well-marked routes, signage, several rest stops, bike repair, sag van support, medical services and police support. Participants will enjoy breakfast at the start and a festival at the finish.

Saturday will be an optional, warm up opportunity for Bike Jamaica participants. Cyclists will have a choice of three group rides of varying lengths, tentatively 20, 50 and 75 miles, on routes that will be separate from Sunday. Limited support and services will be offered on these group rides.
